This page of poems about places in London for KS1 and KS2 was written mainly by my AI. Click here if you are looking for a resource to help you write poems/create resources including webpages. Let me know in the comments underneath if you would like my AI to write a poem about any other places in London or indeed any other subject. For other poems on this website just type “poems” into the search on the right-hand side of the page.
Europe’s biggest city- London
Europe’s biggest city- London
The city that never sleeps
The centre of the world
The place where the old and the new collide
The home of kings and queens
A city of culture and history
London is a city that has something for everyone.
London is the capital
London is the capital
The city that never sleeps
It’s always buzzing with life
There’s always something to do
From museums to parks
There’s something for everyone
London is a city that you must see.
The London Tube
The London tube is a thing of beauty
It’s like a big dark snake
Coiling through the city
Carrying people to their destinations
In a hurry
The tube is always busy
People rushing to get on
And off again
Always in a hurry
The London tube is a thing of beauty
500-piece puzzle of the London Tube – I was given this recently for my birthday and enjoyed making it and reliving memories as I had lived in London back in the ’80s. A great present for anyone who has a fascination with the tube or maybe who lived in London in the past as I did.
The London Tube Map
The tube map is so vast and complex
With stations spanning far and wide
There’s a route for everyone, whatever their need
Whether travelling for business or pleasure
The map is always there, ready to help
Guiding you to your destination
And with its bright colours and easy-to-read design
It’s never been simpler to get around London.
Buckingham Palace
Buckingham Palace, a tourist’s dream
The home of the Queen and her family
A place where history is alive and well
One of the most famous buildings in the world
Inside and out it’s a sight to behold
No matter how often you see it, it never gets old.
The Victoria and Albert Museum
The Victoria and Albert Museum
Is a world of history and art
It’s a place where you can learn about the past
And see the present in a new light
There are sculptures and paintings galore
And exhibits that will capture your heart
It’s a place where you can explore and discover
And learn about different cultures near and far
So if you’re looking for a fun day out
The Victoria and Albert Museum is the place to go.
The London Eye
The London Eye is a giant wheel,
Offering views of the city below.
It’s a popular tourist spot,
Especially for those who love to sightsee.
From up high, you can see all the landmarks,
The Tower of London and Westminster Abbey.
You can also see St. Paul’s Cathedral and Buckingham Palace,
All while relaxing in your glass pod.
Madame Tussauds in London
Come one, come all to see the sights
Of London’s Madame Tussauds
The wax replicas of famous figures
In history and pop culture
Stand here, sit there, so lifelike
It’s hard to tell them apart.
Journalistic integrity
Requires I do not give away the surprises.
But rest assured, it’s an experience
You won’t want to miss.

A fridge magnet from Madame Tussauds – could this be a clue for an up-and-coming trip to London?
The London Planetarium
The London Planetarium
Is a place of wonder and amazement
For people of all ages
It’s a place where you can explore the universe
And learn about the planets
It’s a place where you can experience the stars
And feel like you’re floating among them
It’s a place where you can discover new things
And see the universe in a whole new light
If you’re ever in London, be sure to visit the planetarium
You won’t regret it!
It’s a celestial sanctuary
Where you can lose yourself in the universe.
The Houses of Parliament
The Houses of Parliament sit on the Thames,
Glimpsing downstream to the London Eye;
Facing the river, their back to the City,
The medieval palace now a seat of power.
Rising in grandeur above the weathered stone,
Elizabeth’s turret and Big Ben’s great clock,
They are symbols of our British heritage,
Majestic reminders of bygone days.
Big Ben
I’ve heard that Big Ben is the biggest clock
In the land, and it’s really something to see
It’s so big and bold, with a voice that’s so loud
And each strike of the bell is so clear
People come from all around just to hear
The sound of Big Ben ringing in their ear
This famous clock is something unique
It’s stood the test of time and still ticks
Everyone should have the chance to see
The legendary Big Ben in London

St. Paul’s Cathedral
I am St. Paul’s Cathedral,
Named after the Patron Saint of London.
I have stood here for many years,
A witness to the city’s growth.
I have been a place of worship,
A shelter in times of need.
I have been a symbol of strength,
And a beacon of hope.
My doors have welcomed kings,
And my walls have held the poor and homeless.
I am more than just a building,
I am an important part of London’s history.
The Natural History Museum in London
This is a museum of natural history
Filled with fossils and bones of dinosaurs
It’s a place where you can explore the past
And learn about the animals that once roamed the earth.
The museum has everything from mammoths
To sabre-tooth tigers and giant sloths
You can see exhibits on insects and plants
And learn about the human body too
It’s a place where you can discover new things
Every time you visit, without fail.
The River Thames
The River Thames flows through the heart of London,
seeing all that happens in this great city.
The river is a witness to the good and bad,
the happiness and sorrow.
It carries people on its banks and boats on its waves,
bringing them to their destinations.
The River Thames is a symbol of life in London,
and it will continue to flow long after we’re gone.
Tower Bridge
Tower Bridge is one of the most iconic bridges in London.
It’s a drawbridge that was built over a hundred years ago.
The views from the bridge are stunning, and it’s a must-see for visitors.
Tower Bridge is a British symbol, and it’s a vital part of the city’s infrastructure.
Westminster Abbey
Westminster Abbey,
home to kings and queens,
a place of history and mystery.
Architectural beauty surrounds you,
with carvings and sculptures on every wall.
The stained glass windows shed light,
filling the church with a rainbow of colours.
Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site,
it is one of the most visited places in the world.
Westminster Cathedral
Westminster Cathedral stands so tall and proud
A beacon of light in the heart of London town
Its grandeur is matched by its beauty
And its soaring spires can be seen for miles around
The faithful come to pray and worship here
And marvel at the stained glass windows that dot the walls
It’s a place of peace in the midst of chaos
A holy sanctuary that welcomes all.

I have never been to London, but have always wanted to visit Covent Gardens and take a tour of the theatre. The great thing about visiting London is the fact that you don’t need to worry about transport as there is, so I have heard, an excellent tube system set up which will take you anywhere you want to be.
Buckingham Palace as you mention in your poem is another site to see, and I am sure steeped interesting history.
I lived in London for about 5 years and I loved it!!
I highly recommend a trip if you can.
I really enjoy returning and there’s always something new to see.
Wow, what a great page of poems!
I have been taken around the whole of London by these poems. I love poems and I enjoy reciting them.
This is quite a comprehensive set.
Poems like this bring back childhood memories of rhymes and their excitement. The traditional moonlight dance, where we gather to dance and recite poems.
Thanks for sharing!
Hi Bethel,
I am glad these have brought back happy memories.
All the best!
It is amazing what Artificial Intelligence can create these days. I have seen articles created by AI, but this is the first time that I come across poems that have been written by AI. I am slightly confused about the title that it is Poem about places in London for KS1 and KS2, as I am not sure where KS1 and KS2 comes into it.
As I don’t live in the UK, I can only assume that these are places that are studied or frequented by kids in KS1 and KS2. But very interesting to read about these famous places in London through poetry.
You are absolutely right!
Children in KS1 and KS2 will be introduced to these places and also encouraged to write their own poems.
I love reading kids’ poems and hope this page will give them some inspiration.
I have to say, I’ve never thought to search for poems before – but these are fantastic! It’s incredible that they were created by AI.
I’m sure these will be great at encouraging children in key stages 1 and 2 to create their own poems about places or things that they know well – it is such a brilliant way to express yourself and can be paired so well with other creative outputs like art.
Do you think there is scope for children to also try using AI in the creative process as part of a computing element?
Cheers, Lisa
I wonder where is this beautiful name “London” come from?
The description and the the neat pictures attached are amazing. I wish I could visit London right now. I’m not a kid but the poem taught me a lot.
The river, the museum, the beautiful cathedral, the biggest clock with the sound, the palace, the house of parliament facing the Thames river and the tube train- filled my heart never like before. It felt like I am visiting a travel blog.
Are there special food corners for kids. I am writing this because as an Indian I had the best Indian meals travelling in British Airways and wonderful Samosas inside the Heathrow Airport waiting to change the flight.
I have saved this poem to share with the kids of my family of that age group as well as adults in India.
This beautiful poem shows the extraordinary power of the AI you use. I checked out it by clicking on it. Is there a free trial version to test it out? It seems to be a compelling device with many special attributes to become pro blogger.
Hi Anusuya,
In Roman times London was known as Londinium. There was possibly a local chief called King Lud but that might just be a legend.
Special food corners for kids is an interesting idea! I have never heard of any, but would love to hear more if anyone knows of any.
I am really pleased with my AI. I actually have 2 but the other one is more expensive and very complex. However, it is fascinating to learn about its capabilities and it may pay for itself anyway.
I am sorry, I don’t know of any free trial, but I think the present price is excellent, and if you buy it now you are locked in at this price forever.
It is particularly good for anyone creating resources or writing web pages as I do.
I am glad you enjoyed reading about some places in London and I hope that your family enjoy the poems.
All the best,
Julia
Although I don’t completely understand how AI could do something like this, I am impressed. What a beautiful visit to London you have created. I have a grandson who is just learning to read. Although some of the words may be beyond him, reading these to visit London together will be wonderful. I was wondering if the AI that did this is something you have developed. It is amazing.
Hi Anastazja,
Poems are good for younger children.
Much to my initial surprise when I started teaching, boys often choose poems – perhaps because they are short and they don’t feel overwhelmed by large chunks of text.
I don’t know how an AI can do this either but it is amazing. You just sign up here and then you can use it to create your own poems by giving it keywords to work with.
I love experimenting with it.
All the best Julia
